FOOD for Lane County (FFLC), founded in 1984, is a non-profit with a vision to eliminate hunger for children, seniors, people with disabilities, the working poor and the unemployed. In addition to food collection and distributions, they also work on public awareness, education and community advocacy to encourage long-term community-based solutions to end hunger. Their 60+ employees provide innovative programs throughout Lane County, including the urban the centers of Eugene and Springfield as well as the rural communities that cover 4,700 square miles.
Nearly all of the food for FFLC is donated, nearly half coming from generous local businesses. They are members of both the Oregon Food Bank network and Feeding America, the national food bank collaborative. 92 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to programs that help fight hunger – that translates to three meals distributed for every dollar donated. The coronavirus pandemic has put an extra strain on the community and food resources as many local collection drives have been cancelled. In response, FOOD for Lane County has set-up the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. Please consider joining Cetan Funds in donating to this excellent nonprofit and its mission to help those in the community get access to food.
The Cetan Funds Community Giving Program is our way to recognize local organizations that make a positive difference in our communities.
